Ben Franklin said "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.". Although we cannot prevent disasters from happening, an ounce of preparation is worth a ton of cure when it comes to keeping your business going in the midst of a disaster. The worst time to discover that you have not invested enough in planning for a disaster is in the throes of one. These are a few things you will need to consider:

1. The first thing you will need is a plan, because even a bad plan is better than no plan. 3. Document your systems, how they connect, and what they require to work. Keep important account numbers, contact names and phone numbers where you can get to them easily. Document everything needed for an insurance claim. What kind of coverage do you have? Does it provide for the expense of a hot site or temporary office facilities in the event that your office is no longer inhabitable?
