Because we provide IT services for small and medium sized business in the OKC area, we get asked this question frequently. Last year about this time, my answer was "hold off". My philosophy has always been that the pioneer is the guy running down the hill with an arrow stuck in his back! I don’t what to be that guy and most of you don’t either. Its not that we lack a fundamental sense of adventure, but that we choose different (more fulfilling) adventures than fighting with an operating system that is not quite ready for prime time.
So what has changed? In a word, time. Microsoft has had a year to tune and tweak Windows 10 and now it is to the point where it works well. Many settlers have traveled this now well-worn trail. It is now safe to pass. Upgrade with gusto I say. Not only that, consider this … at the end of the month Microsoft is going to stop offering the free upgrades to Windows 10. If you are running Windows 7, 8 or 8.1, then you can still get the free upgrade until the end of the month. Unless Microsoft extends this offer (I have no reason to believe that they will), you will have to pay over $100 for the upgrade you can get for free now.
If you have been putting this off, I would advise you to go ahead and make the jump. At Aspire Business Solutions we have done many of these Windows 10 upgrades and they all go pretty well. Occasionally, you might need to reload a driver or upgrade another package, but all in all it is a pretty painless process. Once it is done you will be happy you did it. If you don’t want to risk it, go to our website (www.aspireokc.com) and click the "Request Service" button on the home page and we will be happy to help.
As always make a backup of your system first. That way nothing will go wrong! Just kidding. But still make a backup.
